- The present work deals with rammed earth as a building technique that
has a great potential in designing the new depot for open-air museum
Ballenberg. The site planning concept of the museum supports having
several buildings of different typologies in the site of the new depot.
The functions of the depot are divided into many buildings according
to an intensive research of the relationship between the construction
and the architectural space in each.
The research was based on studying two contemporary rammed earth
buildings and their building processes and case studies of possibilile
building structures.
The contrasts that the buildings display, emphasize the specific relationship
between the construction and the space as a representative of
the function. However, the storage buildings are combined through
the material that saves their valuable contents.
