_Wahrnehmung und Herausforderung
Die Büttenenhalde, ein Quartier, dass vor Einzigartigkeit nur so protzt, doch kennen tut es praktisch
niemand. Seine Identität ist stark von der architektonischen Weiterentwicklung durch Walter Rüssli
geprägt, wobei Farben, Formen, Details und Aussenräume im Zusammenspiel mit der umliegenden
Natur unverwechselbar sind. Um dies zu erreichen, wurde das gesamte Quartier in eine oberirdische
und eine unterirdische Ebene aufgeteilt, um den Verkehr von der geplanten, belebten Oberwelt zu
trennen.
Die Analyse zeigte jedoch, dass die Idee einer lebendigen, spielerischen und naturnahen Oberwelt eine
Vision blieb. Kaum jemand ist auf den Wegen, Strassen, Plätzen oder in den Gärten zu sehen. Die
Bewohner ziehen sich in ihre eigenen vier Wände zurück und vermeiden den Kontakt mit den
Nachbarn, weshalb die Tiefgarage oft der einfachste und schnellste Weg ist, sich durch das Quartier zu
bewegen.
_Übergeordneter Ansatz
Das bisher reine Wohnquartier bietet durch seine Lage, die Nähe zur Natur sowie seine Grösse viel
Potenzial für eine Weiterentwicklung. Doch wie könnte diese aussehen? Der Wohnkomfort ist
hoch, und die bestehenden Strukturen würden einer Verdichtung nicht im Wege stehen. Um jedoch
eine blühende Zukunft für diesen Ort zu ermöglichen, sind anderweitige Eingriffe notwendig. Die Welt
befindet sich bereits jetzt in einem grossen Wandel, denn so wie wir unser Leben heute noch
beschreiten dürfen, wird in wenigen Jahren bereits nicht mehr der Fall sein. Aus diesem Grund ist es
wichtig neue Lebensformen und Grundprinzipien zu testen um für die «neue Welt» gewappnet zu sein.
Aus diesem Grund wird sich an der starren Degrowth-Thematik bedient und mit der verspielten Homo-
Ludens-Theorie verknüpft, was zu "Ludic Degrowth" führt – einem spielerischen Rückgang des
Wachstums. Diese beiden Ansätze lassen sich gut kombinieren, da sie ähnliche Ziele für die Zukunft
verfolgen, jedoch mit unterschiedlichen Ansätzen.
_ Strategie
Durch den Rückgang des Autoverkehrs, abgeleitet von der Degrowth-Thematik, wird in der
Büttenenhalde in der Tiefgarage Platz für neue Nutzungen frei. Das Raumprogramm, das sich aus dem
Ludic-Degrowth-Ansatz ergibt und Self-Sufficiency, Repair & Reuse, Sharing Economy sowie
Community Development umfasst, wird so in der Tiefgarage verteilt, dass einerseits jeder Eingriff beide
Ebenen miteinander verbindet und andererseits durch die Anzahl der Eingriffe das gesamte Quartier in
diese Zukunftsvision einbezogen wird.
_Umsetzungsanspruch
Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollen die Interventionen im Bereich Sharing Economy, Community
Development sowie Self-Sufficiency vertieft ausgearbeitet werden. Die übrigen Eingriffe sowie die
neue Funktion der Tiefgarage und die Gesamtvision des Quartiers werden konzeptionell so weit
ausgearbeitet, dass ein einheitliches und stimmiges Gesamtprojekt entsteht. Auf architektonischer
Ebene sollen alle Eingriffe durch ihre Formensprache und Materialisierung miteinander verbunden
werden.

_Perception and challenge
The Büttenenhalde is a district that is bursting with uniqueness, yet practically nobody knows
it. Its identity is strongly influenced by the architectural development by Walter Rüssli,
whereby colors, shapes, details and outdoor spaces in interaction with the surrounding nature
are unmistakable. To achieve this, the entire quarter was divided into an above-ground and an
underground level to separate the traffic from the planned, lively upper world.
However, the analysis showed that the idea of a lively, playful and natural upper world
remained a vision. Hardly anyone is to be seen on the paths, streets, squares or in the
gardens. Residents withdraw into their own four walls and avoid contact with their neighbors,
which is why the underground car park is often the easiest and quickest way to get around the
neighborhood.
_Overarching approach
Due to its location, proximity to nature and size, the previously purely residential district offers
a lot of potential for further development. But what could this look like? The living
comfort is high and the existing structures would not stand in the way of densification.
However, other interventions are necessary to ensure a prosperous future for this location.
The world is already undergoing a major transformation, because the way we live our lives
today will no longer be the case in a few years' time. For this reason, it is important to test
new ways of life and basic principles in order to be prepared for the "new world". For this
reason, the rigid degrowth theory is used and combined with the playful Homo-Ludens theory,
which leads to "Ludic Degrowth" - a playful reduction in growth. These two approaches can be
combined well, as they pursue similar goals for the future, but with different approaches.
_ Strategy
The reduction in car traffic, derived from the degrowth theme, will free up space for new uses
in the underground parking garage at Büttenenhalde. The spatial program, which results from
the Ludic degrowth approach and includes self-sufficiency, repair & reuse, sharing economy
and community development, is distributed in the underground car park in such a way that,
on the one hand, each intervention connects both levels with each other and, on the other
hand, the entire district is included in this vision of the future through the number of
interventions.
_Implementation claim
The interventions in the areas of sharing economy, community development and selfsufficiency
are to be developed in greater depth as part of this project. The other
interventions as well as the new function of the underground parking garage and the overall
vision of the district will be conceptually developed to such an extent that a uniform and
coherent overall project is created. On an architectural level, all interventions are to be linked
with each other through their design language and materialization.
