This thesis book is part of the Master's thesis in the spring semester
2020 in Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, it is about
a proposal for a densified housing complex in Gurzelen, Biel.
Courtyard is the keyword for this book and the project. The book
is written in three parts: the historical research, the thesis and the
application of an unconventional courtyard in Gurzelen. In the
research part, this thesis book focuses on the differentiation of the
city squares, the conventional courtyards and the unconventional
courtyards, many examples of courtyards are listed and analysed.
In the thesis part, a chart illustrates the crucial differences of the
selected examples. The drawings of the thesis project in the last part
show how the outcomes of the research are applied in the thesis
