The advantages of these BIM models are particularly evident in the realization of projects in the field. The
collaboration between engineer and the executing contractors is very relevant in the execution with the
methodology BIM2Field. Therefore, this thesis analyzes only the BIM issues that relate to the design and
execution of the project. This bachelor thesis deals with the question of how BIM2Field can be used
effectively to improve the information exchange between the planning and execution phases.
The focus of the thesis is on the analysis of interface problems from a process-organizational and technical
point of view. The goal is to find out how the optimal exchange of information is for a fast implementation
on the construction site. In this research, interviews will be conducted with various building services
professionals from Hälg Group. Based on the qualitative research, possible problems and weaknesses will be
revealed.
The response of the interviewees shows that the lack of communication between the engineer and the
executing company limits a correct creation of the BIM model. For this reason, it is currently difficult to use
the methodology completely in the execution phase. On the other hand, the responses indicate that the
requirements for the information contained in the BIM models are not clearly defined.
In this way, a change in the exchange of information as well as the form of communication between the
engineer and the contractor should be sought. For this purpose, a comparison is made with the resulting
actual and target situation, which represent the necessary information for the correct implementation and use
of the different BIM models. By means of predefined use cases, which are to be integrated in the BAP early
in the project, problems with the implementation of the information can be solved. Earlier entry of the
contractor in the project results in a more sustainable collaboration, which delivers a more efficient execution
on site.
