- Dieses Projekt behandelt die Weiterentwicklung des Kantonsspitals Baden, einem Bauwerk, das
ursprünglich als Krankenhaus geplant und gebaut wurde, und nun vor dem Abbruch steht. Die Arbeit
greift die Haltung auf, dass «kein Abbruch auf Vorrat» mehr stattfinden darf und stellt den Bestand
als Ressource ins Zentrum. Durch die Forderung nach Resilienz wird das KSB nicht als obsoletes
Bauwerk betrachtet, sondern als Ausgangspunkt für eine transformierende Architektur.
Kern des Entwurfs ist die Schaffung eines Satelliten des Kunsthauses Aarau. Das Aargauische
Schaulager Baden versteht sich als Raum des Lagerns, Restaurierens und Ausstellens von
Kunstwerken und integriert ein Mehrgenerationen-Wohnmodell im ehemaligen Bettenhochhaus des
KSB. Dieses neue Nutzungskonzept soll Kultur, Kunst und einen Lebensalltag auf dem Areal des
Kantonsspitales vereinen und aufzeigen, dass durch überregionale Entwicklungen auch lokale
Verknüpfung mit dem Ort entstehen.
This project deals with the further development of the Baden Cantonal Hospital, a building that was
originally planned and built as a hospital and is now facing demolition. undefinedthe future. The work
takes up the attitude that ‘no more demolition for stock’ should take place and places the existing
building at the centre as a resource. By calling for resilience, the KSB is not seen as an obsolete
building, but as a starting point for transformative architecture.
The core of the design is the creation of a satellite of the Kunsthaus Aarau. The Aargauische
Schaulager Baden sees itself as a space for storing, restoring and exhibiting works of art and
integrates a multi-generational residential model in the KSB's former high-rise ward block. This new
utilisation concept is intended to unite culture, art and everyday life on the site of the cantonal
hospital and demonstrate that supra-regional developments also create local links with the site.
