Bisher war das Angebot für technikbegeisterte Kinder jedoch sehr\r\nbeschränkt. Die Youth Intelligence Agency ist einer der ersten Schweizer Vereine, welcher für diese Kinder\r\nein Angebot aufgebaut hat. Der Fokus liegt darauf, die Kinder mit Spass auf das Zeitalter der Digitalisierung\r\nvorzubereiten. Ein weiteres Ziel ist die Förderung der Softskills der Kinder.\r\nEiner der Ansätze, die Softskills der Kinder zu fördern, ist der Einsatz von Design Thinking. Design Thinking\r\nist ein Produktentwicklungsprozess, der auf Innovation zielt. Der Ansatz dabei ist die nutzerzentrierte\r\nSichtweise. Es wird versucht, Anforderungen und Bedürfnisse aus der Sicht des zukünftigen Nutzers zu\r\ndefinieren.\r\nIm Rahmen dieser Bachelor Arbeit soll überprüft werden, welche Probleme bei Kindern im Alter zwischen 8-\r\n17 Jahren beim Anwenden von Design Thinking auftreten und wie die Methoden verändert werden müssen,\r\ndamit es den Kindern einfacher fällt, diese anzuwenden.\r\nIn einem ersten Design Thinking-Workshop mit Jugendlichen im Alter von 16-17 Jahren, die mit Hilfe einer\r\nMethodensammlung und eines Ablaufplans den Prozess selbständig durchlaufen mussten, wurde beobachtet,\r\ndass die Jugendlichen den Prozess im Grundsatz bereits gut beherrschten, jedoch noch einige Probleme mit\r\nden Methoden hatten.\r\nEs wurde daher entschieden, die Methodensammlung möglichst kinderfreundlich zu gestalten. Die Texte in der\r\nMethodensammlung wurden gekürzt und die Sprache vereinfacht. Zum besseren Verständnis wurde der\r\nAblaufplan durch einen farbcodierten Morphologischen Kasten von Design Thinkings ersetzt. In weiteren\r\nWorkshops mit den Kindern wurde festgestellt, dass das Alter der Kinder einen erheblichen Einfluss auf ihre\r\nPerformance hat. Jüngere Kinder brauchen signifikant mehr Betreuung in der Anwendung, während ältere\r\nKinder ab Sekundarstufe den Prozess bereits selbständig durchlaufen können.\r\nDa die Probandenzahl in dieser Arbeit zu klein ist, kann kein statistisch signifikantes Ergebnis geliefert\r\nwerden. Die Ergebnisse können aber als Richtlinien für zukünftige Forschung oder den Aufbau von Design\r\nThinking-Workshops mit Kindern dienen.\r\n\r\nTraditionally, Swiss people enjoy participating in various social clubs, be it the shooting society, Fasnacht or a\r\nsports clubs. However, there are few clubs for children with an interest in science and technology. The ‘Youth\r\nIntelligence Agency’ (YIA) from Baden wants to change that. Their goal is to provide a space where children\r\ncan playfully interact with these topics and develop technical as well soft skills relevant in a digital future. One\r\ntopic the YIA is interested in exploring is the process of ‘Design Thinking’.\r\nDesign thinking is a product development cycle that has a strong focus on the end-user. This requires a high\r\ndegree of empathy from the participant. This thesis aims to explore the best approach to engaging children with\r\nDesign Thinking. In the process, the author conducted several workshops with children. In the first workshop,\r\nchildren aged 16 - 17, tried to develop a mobile phone case. As aid, they had a small booklet with assorted\r\nmethod fact sheets and a flow chart of the Design Thinking process. The attempt was successful although they\r\nneeded help understanding the factsheets. Based on those findings the method fact sheets were revised. The\r\ntext on was shortened and the vocabulary simplified. In further workshops, the revised fact sheets were tested\r\non children aged 6-17.\r\nA key insight from this study is that the children’s age is a significant factor determining the success of the\r\nmethod. Children under the age of 12 were not able to follow a Design Thinking process by themselves whereas\r\nolder children are capable of producing results. As the number of participants in this study was limited, there\r\nwere no statistically significant findings.
