- Das ARC-Project (Autonomous River Cleanup) ist eine von Studenten der ETH Zürich geleitete Initiative zur
Reinigung von Flüssen von Plastikmüll, im internationalen Umfeld.
In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde das Design und die Integration in einen ISO-Container, einer autonomen,
zweistufigen Förder- und Sortieranlage untersucht, geplant und durchgeführt. Die Anlage wird zur Trennung
von im Wasser treibenden Abfällen von organischem Material eingesetzt.
Die Sortieranlage besteht aus einem Scheibensortierer als Vorsortierstufe und der Hauptsortierstufe, welche
mit zwei Knickarmrobotern mit Bilderkennung ausgestattet ist. Die Vorsortierstufe wird von einem
Abfallzuführ- Förderbandsystem beschickt, welches das Sortiergut entweder direkt aus einem Fluss extrahiert
oder aus einem Sammelcontainer (Bunker) beziehen kann. Die Vorsortierstufe ist als Scheibensortierer
aufgebaut und entfernt Material, welches durch ein Gitter mit 50 x 50 mm Kantenlänge passt. Alles was nicht
vorgängig aussortiert wurde, kommt auf das Sortiergut-Förderbandsystem, wird optisch erfasst und von den
Roboterarmen wird das anorganische Material aussortiert. Das aussortierte Material wird in 2 bis 4
verschiedenen, im Container integrierten oder externen Abfallsammelbehältern deponiert. Das organische
Material durchläuft den Container und kann am Ende gesammelt oder zurück in den Fluss geleitet werden.
Die Anlage kann auf in Flüssen verankerten Booten oder an Land eingesetzt werden und muss auf die dabei
entstehenden Belastungen, sowie die entstehenden Beschleunigungen beim Transport und Umschlag
ausgelegt sein.
Der im Rahmen des Projekts aufgebaute Prototyp kommt ab dem dritten Quartal 2022 am
Laufwasserkraftwerk Letten, an der Limmat in Zürich zum Einsatz.
The ARC-Project (Autonomous River Cleanup) is an initiative led by students of the ETH Zurich to clean
rivers from plastic waste, in an international environment.
In the present work, the design and integration in an ISO container, of an autonomous, two-stage conveying
and sorting system was investigated, planned and carried out. The system is used to separate waste floating in
water from organic material.
The sorting plant consists of a disc sorter as the pre-sorting stage and the main sorting stage, which is
equipped with two articulated robots with image recognition. The pre-sorting stage is fed by a waste feed
conveyor system, which can either extract the sorted material directly from a river or obtain it from a
collection container (bunker). The pre-sorting stage is designed as a disc sorter and removes material that fits
through a grid with 50 x 50 mm edge length. Everything that has not been sorted out beforehand is placed on
the sorting conveyor system, is optically detected and the inorganic material is sorted out by the robots. The
sorted material is deposited in 2 to 4 different waste collection bins integrated in the container or external.
The organic material passes through the container and can be collected at the end or returned to the river.
The system can be used on boats anchored in rivers or on land and must be designed to withstand the stresses
and accelerations generated during transport and handling.
The prototype built as part of the project will be used from the third quarter of 2022 at the Letten run-of-river
power plant, on the Limmat in Zurich.
